Leo P. Schroedel, Jr., age 91, died Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at his home in Forks Township PA surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 28, 1932 in Cherryville NJ, Leo was the son of the late Leo P. and Louise (Shrimpe) Schroedel Sr. He lived in Cherryville until his marriage in 1952 to the love of his life, Doris Irene Stone, and the two moved to Pittstown NJ. Leo met Doris at a Square Dance in in Ringoes NJ and they lived in Pittstown raising a family until 1988 when they moved to Forks Township PA and where they have lived since.
In his younger days, he enjoyed fishing with his son, Leo Jr. at places like Darts Mill in Flemington and other favorite spots. There were many happy memories at the old drive-in theater in Ringoes, driving an old, retired ambulance for fun, and rolling skating adventures with Doris for years.
A “Bible-believing Christian,” Leo was a self-described “workaholic.” He was employed in the propane gas industry for Utility Propane and eventually for AmeriGas Partners, LP as an Operations and Sales Manager. A perfectionist by nature, he could literally take apart anything mechanical, fix it, and rebuild it to working order.
In his free time, Leo enjoyed family trips throughout the eastern United States and catching a favorite Seinfeld episode on television. Most of all, he loved his family, and was most happy spending time with his wife, son and grandson who will miss him greatly.
In addition to his parents, Leo was predeceased by four of his siblings, his two brothers, Ed and Fred, as well as his two sisters, Louise and Edie. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 72 years, Doris Irene (Stone) Schroedel, his son, Leo J. Schroedel of Easton PA, his grandson, Jeremy J. Schroedel of Three Bridges NJ, his brother and sister-in-law, William and Lorraine Schroedel of Flemington NJ, as well as his niece, Susan, and his nephews Steven, George and Joe.
Calling hour for Leo will be Friday, December 1, 2023 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery in Quakertown NJ
