Leon R. Conord, age 83 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Saturday, February 5, 2005 at his residence.

Born in Elizabeth, NJ, January 28, 1922, he was the son of the late Eugene and Florence Hawthorne Conord. He had resided in Raritan Township for the past seventeen years, previously residing in Martinsville, NJ.

An Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, Mr. Conord received four Bronze Stars and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He worked as a millwright and crane operator for Union Carbide, Bound Brook, NJ for over thirty-four years.

A former Chief of the Country Hills Fire Department, Bridgewater, NJ, Mr. Conord was also a Past-President of the East Amwell Seniors and a member of the Flemington-Raritan Seniors.

Mr. Conord's wife of 58 years, Ruth A Conord, died in 2004. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce L. and Doris Conord of Alexandria Township, NJ; a daughter, Carol M. Conord of Kingwood Township, NJ; five grandchildren, Michele Pandy of Kingwood Township, NJ, Lisa Conord of Three Bridges, NJ, Michael Conord of Frenchtown, NJ, Jenyfer Guethe of Kingwood Township, NJ and Patrick Guethe of Kingwood Township, NJ; three great-grandchildren; and his twin brother, Eugene Conord in California.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Neshanic Cemetery, Neshanic, NJ.
