Leonard James Kunsman, 69, of Pittstown, NJ, born October 31, 1954, passed peacefully on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
Len was born in Quakertown, PA; he was the son of the late Richard Leroy and Shirley (Keller) Kunsman.
For many years, he lived in Flemington and later in Sergeantsville, NJ.
Lenny was an avid horseman, in the 1970s along with his late cousin, Gary Kunsman, he relocated from Pennsylvania to New Jersey. Once there, he helped Gary create what later became the well-known and successful Four Seasons Farm.
Later, Lenny worked at General Motors, Linden, NJ. He was with the company for over twenty years; eventually being promoted to manager.
One of Len’s greatest joys was accompanying his family to horse shows up and down the East Coast. Len helped with every aspect of the long show day; often getting up before dawn to ship his daughters’ horses, seeing that their boots were beautifully polished, and cheering them on at ringside.
Len also loved watching his son play baseball. He was the biggest fan at all of his baseball games and skeet shooting competitions.
Dogs were a big part of Lenny’s life. He especially loved Rottweilers, his White Shepard, Bear, and his Jorgi, Petey.
Upon his retirement from General Motors, Lenny teamed up with his good friend Kevin Hennessy of Nobody’s Business Farm to transport horses all over the East Coast. At the same time, being the hard worker that he was, Lenny also cared for Danny Magill’s successful, retired Grand Prix show horses.
Throughout the equestrian community, Lenny will be remembered for his great horsemanship, his kindness, and his wonderful sense of humor.
Lenny is survived by his three children, Eleanor Kunsman of Chester, NJ, Megan (Corey) Moran of Front Royal, VA, and John (Tara) Kunsman of Flemington, NJ, and his two granddaughters, Scarlett and Molly Moran. He is also survived by his siblings, Barbara Cone, Sarah Maier, Linda Kressler, Keith Kunsman, Scott Kunsman and many nieces and nephews.
