Leonard M. Miller, age 83 of Flemington, NJ, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 11, 2020. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 10, 1936 to the late David and Mollie Miller.
After graduating from Brooklyn College, he served in the United States Army. With his keen interest and ability in mathematics, he continued his education and taught at several renowned academic institutions. He joined Western Electric in New York in the mid-1960’s, which later became AT&T. During his long and fulfilling career at AT&T, he worked in analytics and Mergers & Acquisitions as a senior executive until retirement. He also served as the president of the AT&T International Pioneer Club.
Leonard met his beloved wife, Vera, while on vacation in Jamaica – it was truly love at first sight. Leonard loved to travel and enjoyed many amazing cruises and memorable family trips to his favorite destinations such as Hawaii and many historical hotels.
He was a devoted and dedicated father and husband and always put his family first. With all of his successes, his greatest pride in life was his children. He enjoyed celebrating family events, such as his annual New Year’s Eve lobster dinners. Leonard was a movie enthusiast and enjoyed country music. He was an excellent joke teller and had an innate ability to lighten the mood. Leonard had an unbelievable ability to always see the bright side of things ensuring people never lost focus of what mattered. He was a problem solver, an excellent listener, and a great believer in education. He passed down his love of learning and the value of education to his children and grandchildren who benefited profoundly from his wisdom, witty sense of humor, and excellent advice. Leonard is deeply loved and admired by his family and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was predeceased by his two sisters, Thelma and Beatrice Miller.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Vera Miller; his dedicated son Michael Miller (Heather); his two caring and devoted daughters Deborah Miller and Katherine Needleman (Matthew); his two adoring grandchildren Sarah and Daniel Needleman; and his cousin, Jason Brooks (Sharon).
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 11:00 AM in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Capner Street, Flemington, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
