Leroy M. Perkins, age 81 years, of Delaware Township, NJ (Stockton), died Friday, May 5, 2017, at his home. Born in Winfield, KS., October 11, 1935, son of the late Carl A. and Reba Vaughan Perkins, he formerly resided in Metuchen, NJ 1969-1995 and had resided in the Stockton area since 1995. Lee was a graduate of the University of Tulsa with a degree in Chemistry and was employed in the Research Dept. of Merck, Sharp & Dohme, Rahway, NJ for thirty-four years until retiring. He also served with the US Army 1959-1961. Lee was a member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church and its' choir and was a member of the Hunterdon Choral Union. A lover of classical music, he also attended and sang at the Berkshire Music Festival in Massachusetts. Surviving are his wife of fifty-five years, Jane Miller Perkins; a son, Carl Perkins of Flemington, NJ; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Antonio Velazquez of Stroudsburg, PA.; and a grandson, Matthew Perkins of South Plainfield, NJ. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 10 AM in the Flemington Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made to the Flemington Presbyterian Church, 10 East Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
