Lila J. Donovan

Lila J. Donovan, age 96 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Sunday, June 13, 2021, at her home.

Born in the Bronx, NY, November 4, 1924, daughter of the late Nicolas and Concetta Gannitti Serrichio, she had resided in the Flemington area since 1963.

An administrative assistant for many years, first with the Canteen Corporation of America and then as Office Manager with Squibb Agricultural Research Center. After leaving Squibb, she earned an associate degree from Trenton State College (now College of New Jersey) and then went on to substitute teach at Hunterdon Central High School, Flemington, NJ. She finally ended her working career as an administrative assistant for three presidents of Ortho Clinical Research Center, a Johnson & Johnson company.

Also, after retirement she joined several bridge clubs, enjoying the Senior Center and engaging in its’ various activities. Lila enjoyed her trips to the Atlantic City casinos and was an avid reader. Her greatest love, however, was her family of which she was very proud.

She was a devoted wife to her husband, Edward Donovan, Sr., who died in 1999 and was the proud mother of her daughter, Patricia Hotchkin and her husband, H. Donald Hotchkin of Flemington, NJ and of her son, Edward Donovan, Jr. of Flemington, NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher J. Hotchkin, Scott E. Hotchkin, Tammy M. Stragapede, Edward W. Donovan III and Ryan P. Hotchkin; and her two great grandchildren, Samantha Stragapede and Frank A. Stragapede.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 18, 2021, at 11:30 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ followed by burial in St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Friday 9:00 AM-11:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
