Lillian G. Puzio passed away in Emeritus at Hillsborough on March 20, 2012 in her ninety-eighth year.
She was born in Yonkers, NY, May 7, 1914, daughter of the late Michael and Josephine Zawolska Grabowski, she was the oldest of five children and survived her sister, Catherine Senft and three brothers, John, Edward and Joseph Grabowski.
She was a graduate of the High School of Commerce in Yonkers. She was married on October 29, 1936 to her beloved husband, Walter F. Puzio. They had been married for sixty years when he died in 1996. She was a homemaker and had worked as a typist for the American Diet Aids Company and for the Service Fire Insurance Company in Yonkers. She she was a member of St. John’s Church in Getty Square while she lived in Yonkers.
She and her husband moved to Hampton Bays, NY after his retirement where they lived for thirty years. She was a communicant of The Church of St. Mary in Hampton Bays. Lillian loved to read, enjoyed knitting, playing the piano, walking and baking.
In 2002, she moved to be near her daughter in Flemington, NJ because of illness. Her determination and positive attitude were her hallmarks. She lived in Hillsborough for the past three years.
She is survived by a daughter, Frances P. Smith of Flemington, NJ; her granddaughter, Sarah Sajorda and great grandsons, Kyle and Kaden Sajorda of Hillsborough, NJ; her granddaughter, Jennifer Alworth and her husband Christopher of Howell, NJ; a sister-in-law, Pauline Grabowski of Thornwood, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
Her son-in-law, Dr. Gordon Charles Smith, died February 4, 2012.
Funeral Services will take place on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in The Church of St. Mary, 165 Ponquogue Avenue, Hampton Bays, NY 11946 under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Boulevard, Calverton, NY 11933. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home.
