Linda Marie Whipple

Linda Marie Whipple, age 69 years, of Alexandria Township, NJ died on Thursday, July 27, 2017 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Jersey City, NJ on June 8, 1948, she was the daughter of the late William and Marie August Shanney. Born in Jersey City and raised in Bogota, NJ. she has resided in Alexandria Township for the past eighteen years, having formerly resided in Oakland, NJ.

A homemaker, Linda was a graduate of Montclair State University and an active member of the Hunterdon County Seniors. Stricken with diabetes as a teenager, she bravely fought the disease and all of its complications for all these many years, overcoming numerous operations and procedures and enduring endless doctors, tests, probes, needles and medicines before running out of good fortune. She defied the odds and gave birth to and raised two sons and lived a happy life enjoying quilting, her gardens and cats and grand dogs.

Surviving are her husband of forty-seven years, and High School sweetheart, Jeffrey Thomas Whipple; two sons, Brian Whipple, of Washington D.C., and Michael Whipple of Hollywood, CA; three brothers, William Shanney of Los Angeles, CA, James Shanney, of Tewksbury, NJ, and Robert Shanney, of Clifton, NJ;and one granddaughter, Lena. She was preceded in death by her younger brother Jackie some years ago.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 2 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private. Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 11AM until the time of the service in the funeral home.
