Lois Brooks Louden Angel, age 87, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Friday May 31, 2013 at her home.
She was the daughter of the late George Arnett Louden, Jr., former Assistant to the Secretary of the State of NJ, and Perthania Clark Louden of Trenton, NJ.
Mrs. Angel, with her late husband Thomas Angel, owned and operated A & A Radiator Company, A & A Welding Company and were proprietors of the Citgo Gas Station in Baptistown, NJ for a decade until Mr. Angel succumbed to cancer.
She was a decedent of George Opdyke and Perthania Opdyke, early settlers in Kingwood Township in the 1700’s, who came from Holland. Mrs. Angel graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1944 and was later employed by John A. Roebling & Sons Company as Steel Company Librarian in the Research and Development Building, directed by Ferdinand W. Roebling, III grandson of John A. Roebling, builder of the Brooklyn Bridge and the San Francisco Bay Bridge. Mrs. Angel later attended Raritan Valley Community College Nursing School.
She is survived by three nephews, Franklin I. Newton, III and his wife Linda of Bridgewater, NJ, Richard Bates Newton of Lexington, KY, Roger Patterson of Newtown, PA; five nieces, Roxanne Patterson of Doylestown, Pa, Cynthia Purvins of Doylestown, PA, Diane Hunter and her husband Paul of Langhorne, PA, Nancy Newton McKay and her husband Mike of Sanford, FL, and Donna Newton Giorno of Houston, TX; two grandchildren, Jennifer Hunt and her husband Geoff of Flemington, NJ and David Park and wife Margaret of Philadelphia, PA; four great-grandchildren, and her six beloved friends Veronica Satmari, Beverly Hopf, Moon Park all of Flemington, NJ and Billy Shurts of Lambertville, NJ, Mary Ann De Sapio of Baptistown, NJ, and Elaine Demi.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11:30 AM in the Ewing Church Cemetery, Scotch Road, Ewing, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Visitation hours will be held Tuesday 9:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
