Lois Young Mcewen

October 30, 1926 — April 22, 2015

Lois Young McEwen, 88, of Flemington, New Jersey completed her journey through this life on Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

Lois was born on October 30, 1926 in Poughkeepsie, New York to the late Howard and Gladys (Morgan) Young. She was raised in Westfield, New Jersey

Graduating from Westfield High School in 1944. She then graduated from Green Mountain College, Vermont in 1946 as an art major.

In 1946 at the age of 19 she married Alfred McEwen and together they raised six children in Fanwood, New Jersey.

When she was younger, Lois spent her summers growing up in the Adirondack Mountains of New York and later she and her family had a summer home there for many years.

Lois spent many years searching, journaling and traveling the globe discovering her life’s spiritual journey. She had several health issues that created a few challenging bumps in the road. These spiritual and physical experiences inspired her to author several books.

Beloved Friends

If my ship should sail beyond your view

Take heart beloved friends.

It does not mean my journey ends,

It only means the river bends.

Lois is survived by her six children, daughter and her husband Judy and Fred Brown; son and his wife James McEwen and Sharol Bailey; daughter and her husband Jill and Kevin Farquhar; daughter and her husband Joanne and Mark Lawrie; daughter Janet Diamond; and son Jeffrey McEwen; her nine grandchildren and her sister Barbara Smith.

There will be a graveside service at Fairview Cemetery, 1100 East Broad Street, Westfield, New Jersey at a date to be determined under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ..
