Louanna Burenga, age 91 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at her home in Sergeantsville, NJ.
Born in Sergeantsville, NJ, April 27, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Dr. John L. and Mae Lennard Chamberlin.
She was a graduate of Flemington High School and attended Rider Business College. In 1941, she married Nicholas Burenga and lived in Sergeantsville, NJ for ten years, before moving to their home in Ringoes, NJ.
Louanna worked with her husband throughout her career, first for the family owned Ringoes Lumber and Feed, and later becoming active and eventually becoming majority shareholders in the Black River & Western Railroad. In 1960, she held a supervisory position for the U.S. Census in Hunterdon County.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Nicholas, in 2002; a brother, A. Leavitt Chamberlin; a sister, Mary Bonk; and a son, James Nicholas.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Jean Burenga of Fredericksburg, TX; a daughter and son-in-law, Janis Burenga and Timothy Martin of Sergeantsville, NJ; a grandson, Kean Burenga and his wife Kim of Ringoes, NJ; a granddaughter, Diene Richter and her husband Michael of Spicewood, TX; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Ringoes, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 PM in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ.
