Louis Cornick

Louis Cornick, born William Eugene Dodson on June 10, 1929 in Takoma Park MD, passed away in Tinton Falls NJ on July 29, 2017. Louis was adopted at the age of six months by Frieda and Philip Cornick of Yonkers, NY, a fact of which he was always proud. Louis spent much of his early teenage years at the home of his Grandfather, Dr. Boyd Cornick in San Angelo, TX. The family lived in Washington, DC, and later in Yonkers NY. He graduated from The Riverdale Country School for Boys, in Riverdale, NY, in 1948, from what is now Westchester Community College in 1951, and held a Professional Engineers License. Louis began his career with Texaco, moved to J.O. Ross Engineering, and then Mobil Oil Corporation, from which he retired 32 years later. Louis married Joan Burdick in 1954 and they had 63 happy years together. They resided in Flemington, NJ for 46 years. In addition to his loving wife, Joan, Louis is survived by two sons, Robert of Buford GA, Philip of Colts Neck NJ, and son-in-law John Stothoff of Flemington, NJ, along with the lovely women in their lives. He had six grandchildren, Scott, Craig, James, Stephanie, Michael and Kevin and two step-grandchildren, Peter and Lauren, all of whom he adored. He is predeceased by his daughter, Susan Cornick Stothoff in 2014. Louis was a proud member of the Flemington Baptist Church, Flemington, NJ, loved Pastor Pamela Reed, and cherished his fellow parishioners. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Flemington Baptist Church, 170 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Louis will be buried privately in a family plot in San Angelo TX at a later date. Cremation services and funeral arrangements were under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, Flemington, NJ.
