Louise Stryker Kenney

Louise Stryker Kenney, age 96 years, of Ringoes, NJ, died on Thursday, March 6, 2014, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born on Rocktown Road in Ringoes, NJ (now the Unionville Vineyard), July 21, 1917, she was the daughter of the late James and Kate Totten Stryker. Mrs. Kenney was a resident of Ringoes, NJ for over forty years. She and her late husband built a home on the Stryker property in the 1970's.

Louise graduated from Flemington High School in 1934, and attended the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, graduating as a dietician in 1936. She worked at Western Union, New York City, in the 1940's, then was the Office Manager for DR Kenyon and Son, Bridgewater, NJ, for 30 years.

Louise was also a bookkeeper for Herder Insurance, Three Bridges, NJ for 15 years, retiring in 1993. Since her retirement, Louise volunteered for the Finance Department of the Hunterdon Medical Center. She was chosen as Volunteer of the Year in 2007. Louise was best described by her co-workers, family, and friends as a hard worker, pleasure to work with, cheerful, caring, funny, smart, and honest.

She was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church of Amwell Ringoes, NJ, for forty-nine years.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Arthur, in 1989. Surviving are her nephews, Charles J. Schaefer and wife, Wanda, of Columbus, NJ and David J. Schaefer and wife, Denise, of Crosswicks, NJ; nieces, Doris Bellini and husband, John, of Rockaway, NJ, and Carol Loffredo of East Rutherford, NJ; and many great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 11 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Amwell Ridge Cemetery, Larison's Corner, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014, from 6-8 PM in the funeral home.
