Lynn B. Taw

Lynn (Miriam) Goldstein Bermar Taw, age 91, died Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township NJ. Born August 6, 1926, in Orange NJ, Lynn was the daughter of the late Jacob and Rae (Kropintsky) Goldstein, and she lived in the Hunterdon County area much of her life. Lynn’s father, Jacob, was an entertainer for the USO during WWII. Known as “The Great Ber-Mar,” he travelled to many cities in California and Canada, often accompanied by his daughter, Lynn. She changed her last name to “Bermar” in January 1944. At one point during the war, Lynn considered joining the women’s branch of the US Army to have an active participation in the war effort. However, with much soul-searching, Lynn decided that accompanying her father on his USO tours fulfilled that purpose. Lynn met the love of her life, John C. Taw, and the two were married on March 22, 1964, and settled in Clinton NJ. She worked for various employers including Ortho Diagnostics, where she met some of her best friends. After health issues necessitated the need for skilled nursing care, John would drive everyday to be with Lynn, sometimes watching the NY Yankees, but was always by her side, until his death in September 2014. Lynn will be missed by her friends and the staff who took such good care of her at the Hunterdon Care Center. Lynn could “give you a run for your money,” but always was there for support and friendship. While Lynn and John did not have any children, she is survived by her long-time friend, Patricia Merski of Kill Devil Hills NC, who was like a daughter to them. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
