Mabel M. Brescia

Mabel Brescia, 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township. Her family was with her at her passing. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Mabel was a resident of Flemington since 2013.

Mabel was born on November 29, 1926 in North Dighton, MA. She was the wife of Joseph F. Brescia, the mother of Nancy Fearing of Flemington and Ann Hougasian of Putnam, CT. She was also survived by her brother Adrian Reyes of Flagstaff, AZ, Son-in-laws Jack Fearing (Flemington) and Richard Hougasian (Putnam), grandchildren Jason Fearing of Roseville, CA and his wife Jessica, Michael Hougasian of New Milford, CT and Kellie Hougasian of Waterbury, CT. She was predeceased by her parents, Manuel and Maria (Paiva) Freitas and sister, Hilda and her husband Manual DeMacedo of Milford, MA.

She was a radiological technologist for over 50 years and worked at both the Clinton Hospital in Clinton, MA and the Cape Cod Community Hospital.

Mabel and Joe would have been married for 70 years on May 7, 2019. They lived in Clinton, MA for many years raising their two daughters. They retired to Centerville on Cape Cod and lived there for over 30 years. They enjoyed countless friends and the many beautiful beaches, sand dunes and picturesque islands that surrounded them. They especially enjoyed walking the beach and sharing the outstanding seafood with their cherished family. Mabel enjoyed tending her flower gardens, discussing politics and watching her beloved Boston professional sports teams.

Funeral services will be held at 9:45 am on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ. Interment will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown PA. Calling hours will be Tuesday morning from 8:45 am until the time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
