Mae M. Zapko, age 99 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, Hackettstown, NJ.
Born in Annandale, NJ, March 17, 1917, daughter of the late James Edmonds and Ida Bolmer Edmonds Griffith, she resided in the Flemington area most of her life.
She was married for sixty-three years to Louis Zapko, Sr., until his death in 2000.
Mae was a seamstress and was formerly employed by the Flemington Fur Co. and later she and her husband operated an upholstering business.
She was pre-deceased by her granddaughter, Stephanie Workman; her sisters, Florence Nadeau and Mary Elizabeth Sherman; her brothers, James, Frank and Lester Edmonds; and her step-father, Fred Griffith.
Surviving are two sons, Lewis Zapko, Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Raritan Township, NJ, and James M. Zapko, Sr. and his wife, Randi, of Palm Harbor, FL.; her grandchildren, Tracy Baykowski and husband, Glenn, of Lebanon Township, NJ, Jamie Zapko and his wife, Rita, of San Marcos, CA., and James M. Zapko, Jr. of Palm Harbor, FL.; and her great grandchildren, Brody and Taylor Baykowski.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 28, 2016, at 1:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral Home.
