Margaret "Margie" T. Clifford

May 5, 1955 — August 28, 2017

Margaret ‘’Margie” T. Clifford age 62, of Mansfield Township, NJ died Monday August 28th at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bethlehem, Pa. May 5th 1955, daughter of the late George and Sandra Walters.

A 1973 graduate of Hunterdon Central High School, she went on to obtain her teaching degree from Southern Connecticut University. Her 33 year career in education began at Delaware Township School in Sergeantsville, NJ were she was named teacher of the year in Hunterdon County. From there she moved on to the Layfette Learning Center in Morristown and later to Morristown High School. Margie also served 33 years as a consultant for the New Jersey Education Association at UniServ Regional Office #13.

Margie was well known for her vibrant smile and positive attitude. She was a strong woman full of love, kindness, courage, grace and determination who had an unparalleled zest for teaching, along with an amazing ability to inspire students as well as colleagues. She made a difference in so many lives. She truly cared. Margie loved the outdoors; the beach, white water canoeing, camping, gardening and her “Clifford Beach” pool at home. She spent many happy hours as the Stage Manager at the “Growing Stage Theater”. She cherished spending time with her family and friends often leading family sing a longs and was an awesome dancer.

Surviving are her husband of 20 years Raymond Clifford of Mansfield Township, sisters Karen Walters, Virginia Walters McFee and her husband Chris all of Milford, NJ, and a brother George A. Walters II and his two children Cassandra Jo Morgan and husband Grant, George Walters III, his wife Sunny and their two children Johanna and Vivian, as well as many beloved cousins and in-laws.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 9th, 2017, at 12:00 pm in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St., Flemington, NJ. Visitation hours will be Saturday from 10:00am-12:00pm with a service immediately following.

Memorial contributions in Margie’s name may be made out and mailed to: Gateway for Cancer Research at 500 East Remington Rd. Schaumburg, IL. 60173. They are a non-profit organization which benefits the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Philadelphia, PA.
