Margaret Opdyke, age 96 years, of Clinton Township, NJ, died Friday, November 3, 2017, at Rolling Hills Care Center, Clinton Township, NJ.
Born in Flemington, NJ, April 4, 1921, daughter of the late Lewis and Eleanor Williamson Cronce, she had resided in Hunterdon County all her life.
A graduate of Flemington High School, she and her late husband, Stanley Opdyke, owned and operated Opdyke's Service Station in Clinton Township. Margaret later was employed in the Transport Dept. of Hunterdon Medical Center and, after retiring from the Hunterdon Medical Center, she volunteered for years in the Transport and Pharmacy departments there.
Margaret loved to sing and was a former forty-eight year member of the ‘Sweet Adelines.’ She is survived by two sons, Bruce Opdyke and his fiancée, Rose, of Kingwood Township, NJ and Richard Opdyke and his wife, Cindy, of Benton, PA. Margaret is also survived by five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Her husband Stanley Opdyke, died in 1995.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 9, 2017, at 11:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
