Heaven gained another angel on March 3, 2024. Born in Kapfenberg, Austria on April 18, 1951 in a displaced persons camp, Maria “Marie” Teresa Pinckney and her family were Yugoslavian immigrants who settled in Hunterdon County, NJ in 1955 upon sponsorship by the Lutheran Church post World War II. She grew up in Locktown, NJ on a small family farm where she ultimately returned to care for her aging parents, Josef Fink Sr. and Ana (Bozicnk) Fink.
It was on this family farm that Marie developed her love of gardening and flowers, baking and crafting, animals and family gatherings - all things she learned from her beloved mother Ana (our Oma).
Gentle, steady, doting, mild-mannered, patient and strong - these are the words that describe our best friend. She was an active listener, supporter, and care giver. A selfless angel who gave more than she received or ever expected.
Marie was a graduate of Hunterdon Central High School where she met her high school sweetheart, future husband, and soulmate. She began working full-time only after her children entered their school age years in Frenchtown, NJ and was a dedicated employee for over 35 years at Bio-Serv. There she used her sweet interpersonal skills as Director of Customer Service and was loved and respected by her coworkers and clients alike.
Marie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Josef and Ana; siblings, Joe, Anna, and Ernie; and son-in-law Keith Conover.
Surviving are her husband of fifty-four years, Robert “Bob” Pinckney of Delaware Township, NJ; her daughters Lisa Pinckney of Chattanooga, TN; Patricia Pursell (son-in-law, Dean) of Holland Township, NJ; Jennifer Conover of Lopatcong Township, NJ; sister-in-law Jane “Rusty” Pinckney of Phoenix, AZ; and grandchildren Jack, Anna, Colin, Matthew, Reed, and Ryan. She also leaves behind Susi, Teddy, Bobby, Karen, Teresa, and Joey who all loved their Aunt Mimi dearly.
Funeral services celebrated by the Rev. Tex Culton will be held Friday, March 8, 2024, at 12 Noon at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington. Calling hours will be Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
As an empty nester, she found joy first and foremost in her grandchildren but a close second were her feline friends, and there were many over the years. If you are so inclined, please consider making a memorial contribution in her name to Tabby’s Place, 1100 US 202, Ringoes, NJ 08551.
