Marie Stay

Marie Stay, age 78, died Sunday, March 19, 2023 at the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township NJ.

Born September 7, 1944, in Lake Charles LA, Marie was the daughter of the late Robert and Josephine (Gojeski) Tritt.

Marie was a Supervisor for 29 years at the Hunterdon Developmental Center in Clinton, NJ, where she cared for the needs of people with developmental disabilities and was dedicated to treating clients with dignity and respect, and to providing them with the highest quality of life and independence possible.

Marie was an avid reader of spiritual books and especially loved Oprah's book club recommendations which always helped facilitate conversation, spark enlightenment and leave the world a better place in every tomorrow. She also loved listening to music and was addicted to the Hallmark channel. Whether she was reading, listening to music or watching her favorite television programs, she could easily sit in her rocking chair all day long!

In addition to her parents, Marie was predeceased by her son, Andrew Stay in 2013. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Shelly Stay of Doylestown PA, her daughter and daughter-in-law, Jennifer and Susan McCann of Stockton NJ, her granddaughter, Emily Stay of Doylestown PA, her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ernest Mallard of Virginia, and her sister, Charlotte Esposito of Lambertville NJ.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Monday, March 27, 2023 at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington NJ. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery in Rosemont NJ. Calling hours will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ. All are welcome to attend the repast following the interment – location and directions will be provided the day of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marie’s name may be made to Hunterdon Hospice, 215 Route 31 South, Flemington NJ 08822.
