Marie T. Van Gilson

Marie T. Van Gilson, age 96 years, of Middletown Township, NJ, died Saturday, August 31, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in New York City, NY, November 9, 1922, daughter of the late Stephan and Teresia Markovic Lissy, she had formerly resided in Middlesex, NJ and Flemington, NJ.

A homemaker, Marie was an avid member of the Raritan Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Flemington-Raritan Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary. She worked at the Flemington-Raritan Community Pool and as a cafeteria aide at Robert Hunter Elementary School, Flemington, NJ.

She is pre-deceased by her husband John Van Gilson in 2000; one daughter, Yvonne Van Gilson in 1960 and four brothers, Eugene Lissy, Stephan Lissy, Joseph Lissy and John Lissy.

Surviving are her five children, Kenneth Van Gilson of Ewing Township, NJ, Walter Van Gilson of Flemington, NJ, David Van Gilson and his wife, Judy, of Holland Township NJ, Jeffrey Van Gilson and his wife, Lisa, of Salisbury, MD, and Sandra Fenn of Lincroft, NJ; one sister-in-law, Leonora Lissy of Middlesex, NJ and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 9:00-10:30 AM at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery, North Main Street, Flemington, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marie’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
