Marilyn Marie Wenzel Ubel

April 29, 1943 — July 2, 2022

Marilyn Marie Wenzel Ubel, age 79 years, of Kingwood Township, NJ, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington, NJ. Marilyn was born in Somerville, NJ on April 29, 1943, the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Taylor Wenzel. She had resided in New Jersey most of her life. Marilyn graduated from the University of Findlay with a teaching degree and returned to New Jersey to teach at Hunterdon Central High School, impacting students for many years. After getting married and making the decision to start a family, she decided to retire from teaching to be a stay-at-home mother. After her job at home was done, Marilyn stepped out of retirement, working part time at the Erwinna Post Office as a substitute Postmaster. Marilyn enjoyed many sports, and you could often catch her watching golf or a football game on TV. One of her favorite sports she loved to partake in was bowling. She spent many years in a women's league at Frenchtown Bowling Alley, always striving for her next turkey or 300 game. Marilyn loved nature and all creatures large and small. She especially took great pleasure in feeding and watching the birds from her dining room window. She was particularly fond of the hummingbirds that arrived in the summer. As soon as the bleeding hearts bloomed, she would promptly hang her feeders eagerly awaiting their arrival. Marilyn always appreciated a good meal. She took great pride in cooking for family and friends; no one ever left hungry. Her door was always open to those who wanted to sit and chat over a cup of coffee or enjoy one of her amazing 'suppers'. She was predeceased by her husband Frederick Ubel. Surviving are her children, one daughter Jennifer Ubel of Kingwood Township, NJ; one son Frederick M. Ubel of Kingwood Township, NJ; one sister, Christine Wenzel Anderson of Flemington, NJ, and one brother, William Wenzel of Merritt Island, FL. She is also survived by a long list of nieces and nephews. Marilyn was never one to be the center of attention; she would ask, in lieu of services, that donations be made to the following organizations: University of Penn Heart Transplant Fund by Clicking Here or to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network by Clicking Here Cremation services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
