Mario F. Canale, age 83 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Saturday, May 19, 2007, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Streator, IL, March 21, 1924, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Carmella Leto Canale. He moved to Raritan Township, NJ in 1965.

A Personnel Administrator with Lipton Tea, Raritan Township, NJ, he retired in 1988 after forty-three years with the company.

He was a Unites States Army veteran of World War II, serving in Saipan and the Phillipines, and was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star medals.

He was a Communicant, Eucharistic Minister, and Usher at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Three Bridges, NJ. He was a member of the Copper Hill Country Club, Raritan Township, NJ; Past Exalted Ruler of Flemington Elks Lodge #1928, and a former member of the Flemington Lions Club.

Mr. Canale was instrumental in raising funds for lighting Stewart Field at Hunterdon Central High School, Flemington, NJ.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-one years, Marcella Masley Canale; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Stephen Johnson and Diana and George Dzama all of Raritan Township, NJ; six grandchildren: Alexis Johnson, Lee Sember, Jeff Sember, Steve Johnson, Brad Dzama, and Jennifer Dzama, and five great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours.
