Marion Manning, 83, died June 18, 2008 in Flemington NJ. She was the widow of William H. Manning who predeceased her in l972.
A graduate of the University of Conn., she was employed for many years as feature writer and editor of the Dalton (MA) News Record, including the year the paper was named the best weekly in New England, regardless of size, by the New England Press Association. Her human interest articles were published in local and national periodicals and newspapers.
Born in Winsted, Conn. she was the daughter of John and Ethel Duyser. Mrs. Manning is survived by four children: James H. Manning of Washington DC; Marcia Zweerink of Overlea Farm, Flemington, NJ; John A. Manning of Jericho, VT and David W. Manning of Montville, NJ along with six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held July 11 at 1PM at Calvary Episcopal Church, Flemington. Following the service, the family will receive friends at Marion’s home on Overlea Farm, 127 Pleasant Run Rd., Flemington. The family will also greet friends in Dalton, MA on July 12 from 12 to 3PM at Grace Episcopal Church Guild Hall. A similar reception will be held at Button Bay State Park in Panton, VT on Sunday, July 13, from 4 to 6PM following a private interment ceremony.
In lieu of flowers those who wish may contribute to the William H. and Marion D. Manning Scholarship fund at Wahconah Regional High School, Dalton, MA, an award given annually to a student interested in music or writing.
