Marta Szafran

Marta Szafran, age 55 years, of Union Township, Hunterdon County, NJ, died on Saturday, July 17, 2010, at her home.

Born in Poznan, Poland, July 3, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Antoni and Ludgarda Kazimiera Paprzycka Szafran.

Marta came to live in the United States in 1975. She made a home here with her former husband John Kardell, learned English, and subsequently completed her Bachelors and Masters degrees in the U.S.

Marta pursued a lengthy career with AT&T in a variety of positions related to Information Technology and Marketing where she was also active in the AT&T Polish Society. Following AT&T she pursued a new career as an independent investment professional.

Marta enjoyed travel, including visits to Egypt, England, Costa Rica and periodic return trips throughout Europe. She is remembered fondly by numerous friends and colleagues including the Jehovah’s Witness Congregation in Clinton, New Jersey. The world is already a sadder and smaller place without her.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2010 from 2-4 with a Roman Catholic prayer service and 6-8 PM with a Jehovah Witness service in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Poland.
