WHITING - Marvin S. Mathews died Nov. 13, 2002 in Community Hospital in Toms River. He was 87. He was born in Kingwood Township, the son of Joseph and Cora Search Mathews, and lived in Stanton for 38 years before moving to Whiting 20 years ago. He was employed by J.C. Johnson Plumbing and Heating in Clinton for many years, then for 10 years was the head of maintenance for Hunterdon County National Bank in Flemington until his retirement. He was a member of Community Reformed Church in Whiting and was a former member, deacon, and elder of Stanton Reformed Church. He was past master of the Darcy Lodge, F&AM of Flemington. His wife, Elsie Van Camp Mathews, died in 1992. A son, Marvin R. Mathews, died in 1942 and a sister, Irene Dilts, died in 1991. He is survived by two daughters, Judith B. Cox of Piscataway and B. Sharon Jose of Silver Spring, Md.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington. Burial was in Locust Grove Cemetery in Quakertown. Memorial contributions can be made to the Deborah Hospital Foundation, Box 820, Browns Mills, 08015.
