Mary A. Buckwalter

Mary A. Buckwalter, age 88 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Paterson, NJ, August 19, 1918, daughter of the late Melville and Anne C. Ackerman, she had resided in Raritan Township since 1949.

A well-known local artist, Mrs. Buckwalter was a former member of the Hunterdon County Cultural & Heritage Commission as well as a member of the Flemington Womans Club; the Community Garden Club; the Reserve Officers Association League; and the National Organization of Women In The Arts.

Baptized in the First Baptist Church, Paterson, NJ, she was a member of the Flemington Baptist Church, Flemington, NJ.

Her husband, Alan R. Buckwalter, Jr., died in 1978.

Surviving are two sons, Alan R. Buckwalter III of Houston, TX and John R. Buckwalter of Ringoes, NJ; a sister-in-law, Margaret Buckwalter of Amherst, MA; and six grandchildren, Lisa J. Buckwalter, Ann E. Buckwalter, Thomas R. Buckwalter, Robert A. Buckwalter, Katherine A. Buckwalter and William R. Buckwalter.

Memorial Services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Flemington Baptist Church, Main Street & Church Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Reaville, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
