Mary C. Bittle

Mary C. Bittle, age 94 years, of Neshanic Station, NJ, died on Sunday, December 7, 2008, in the Foothill Acres Nursing Home, Hillsborough Township, NJ.

Born in Neshanic, NJ, October 25, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Jason S. and Abbie Boehm Crum. She had resided in the Neshanic area all of her life.

She retired in 1977 from the United States Postal Service, serving as Postmaster in Neshanic Station for twenty years.

She was a member of the Neshanic Reformed Church, and was formerly organist and choir director there. She was a member of the National Postmasters Association.

Her husband, John L. Bittle, died in 1980. She was also pre-deceased by a brother, Donald Crum, and a sister, Margaret Cole. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Sharon Bittle of Neshanic Station, NJ, and John and Kathy Bittle of Sebastian, FL; a sister, Joan Crum of Hillsborough, NJ; three grandchildren; Patrick Bittle and his wife Sonia of Indianapolis, IN, Jason Bittle and his wife Lisa of Grand Junction, CO, and Robyn and her husband Steven Abramo of Neshanic Station, NJ; and seven great-grandchildren: Travis, Lillian, Nathan, Grace, Joshua, and Sarah Bittle, and Tyler Abramo.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11 AM in the Neshanic Reformed Church, 715 Amwell Road, Neshanic, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Neshanic Cemetery, Neshanic, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
