Mary Haydu, age 95 years, died on Thursday, October 26, 2006, in Independence Manor, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Paterson, NJ, January 7, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Kalman and Theresa Meszaros. She was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County, NJ.
She was a retired teacher, and formerly ran a gift shop on Route 202 in Flemington.
She was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.
She was formerly a member of the Hunterdon County Soroptomist Club, the Bridge Club, and volunteered many years at the Hunterdon Medical Center. She attended the Flemington Baptist Church.
Her husband, Adam Haydu, died in 1990. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Ruby Haydu Hall, of Raritan Township, NJ; three nieces, Golden Robinson of Monrovia, MD, Nancy Woodard-Bourke of Whitehouse Station, NJ, and Judith Nelson of Naples, FL; and three nephews, Wayne Crowley of Monrovia, MD, Donald Haydu of Canoga Park, CA, and Scott Brown of Cincinatti, OH.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
