Mary Jo Ciotta

Mary Jo Ciotta, age 79 years, of Flemington, NJ, died Friday. December 17, 2021, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Dallas, PA, February 2, 1942, daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine Zambeck Kashuba, she had resided in the Flemington area since 1968.

Mary Jo was a graduate of Misericordia University, Dallas, PA. and received her master’s degree in Education from Trenton State College (now the College of New Jersey).

She was first a registered nurse at Muhlenberg Hospital, Plainfield, NJ, then was a school nurse for Readington Township School System for several years before becoming a social worker with the Readington Township School System until she retired in 2002.

She was a member of the Misericordia University Alumni Association; the NJ Education Association and a nursing organization as well.

Mary Jo was an avid reader and loved knitting and baking with her granddaughters and daughter-in-law. In addition, Mary Jo was always a supporter of all her family’s activities.

A son, Mark Ciotta died in 1979.

Surviving are her husband of fifty-three years, Donald A. Ciotta; her son and daughter-in-law, David and Jackie Ciotta of Little Silver, NJ; her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Ciotta and Craig Fitzsimmons of Rhinebeck, NY and four grandchildren, Anthony, Brianna, Veronica and Catalina.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, December 22, 2021, from 8:30 to 10:30 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Entombment will follow in St. Magdalen Mausoleum, Flemington, NJ.
