Maureen Patricia Myers

July 5, 1957 — August 6, 2022

Maureen Patricia (Martin) Myers, age 65, of East Amwell Township NJ, died Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia PA. Born July 5, 1957 in Brooklyn NY, Maureen was the daughter of Irish immigrants Maurice and Mary Martin. The family moved in 1961 to Fords, NJ where she was raised. Growing up, Maureen spent many summers in her youth with family in County Clare and County Kingscourt in Ireland. She graduated from Saint Mary’s High School, Perth Amboy in 1975. Maureen answered her call to nursing by graduating with an RN from Middlesex County College in 1977, a BSN from Jersey City State in 1983, and later her Master’s Certificate in school nursing. Maureen provided loving care at Elizabeth General on med surge and short stay units, in the Emergency Room at Hunterdon Medical Center, as an Occupational Health Nurse at Exxon, and finally as a school nurse at Ethel Hoppock Middle School in Bethlehem Township, NJ. While she herself was a difficult patient at times, her patient –first approach was unparalleled. Maureen met the love of her life, Gary, at the Jersey Shore in Manasquan in June of 1979. After marrying each other in 1982, they moved from Linden, NJ to East Amwell, NJ in 1985 where they built a house on a plot of land that reminded her of County Clare, Ireland. They raised all four of their children there and celebrated 40 years of marriage this past June. They enjoyed many vacations together, and with their children, to Disney World and Hilton Head, South Carolina. Maureen was a fierce protector of her family and loved ones. Proud of her Irish heritage, she never missed celebrating St. Patrick’s day. She had a keen judgement of character. She enjoyed few things more than a cup of tea with family and friends. She enjoyed the company of her children’s pets, card games, a good deal, watching the Mets, Rangers, and Jets, live music, and the joy her corn pudding brought to the holidays. Predeceased by her father, Maurice Martin, Maureen is survived by her mother, Mary Martin of Fords NJ, her loving husband, Gary R. Myers, her son, Michael G. Myers and his partner Maggie Lagle of Lebanon NJ, her daughter and son-in-law, Megan B. and Matthew J. Kupchinsky of Elizabethtown PA, her son and daughter-in-law, Brendan S. and Ashley Myers of Coopersburg PA, her son and his fiancé, Sean R.
