Melanie B. Loughlin

Melanie B. Loughlin, age 74 years, died Thursday, July 18, 2019 at her home in Raritan Township NJ.

Born March 30, 1945, in Flemington NJ, Melanie was the daughter of the late Anthony and Lucy (Maddalena) Brusco.

She graduated from Farmington State Teachers College in Maine and received her Masters Degree in Education from Rutgers University. She worked as a Home Economics teacher for four years at Vernon Middle School in Vernon CT, and retired after 27 years at Delaware Valley Regional High School in Frenchtown NJ.

Melanie always had a love for reading; often she could be found reading the latest Stephen King or John Jakes novel, or one of her other favorite authors. Her skills in the kitchen were many. Melanie loved to cook and bake, many times making her own delicious recipes that were shared with friends and family.

Music filled her life as well, listening to favorite opera and classical selections that brought her happiness.

Melanie took great pride in her appearance and dress; some of Melanie’s favorite times included shopping for new clothing at various stores and boutiques with her mother.

In addition to her parents, Melanie was predeceased by her brother, Mario Brusco. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Walter J. Loughlin, her niece, Kathy Brusco, and her nephew and his wife, Matthew and Jennifer Brusco.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 am on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
