Melvin Dvoor, age 88 years, of Independence Manor, Raritan Township, NJ, died there Monday, March 6, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Haven, Ct., April 23, 1928, son of the late Jacob and Ida Savellewitz Dvoor, he had resided in the Flemington area most of his life.
He was a lifelong farmer with his family farms, Dvoor Bros. Farms, Raritan Township, NJ.
A 1947 graduate of Flemington High School, he was a member of the Flemington Jewish Community Center and Flemington Elks Lodge #1928,
Mel was an avid sports memorabilia collector and an avid Phillies and NY Giants fan.
His brother, Herbert Dvoor, died in 2009.
Surviving are his wife of over sixty years, Marilyn Hayfer Dvoor; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Alan Hylton of Ringoes, NJ.; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sandra Dvoor of Flemington, NJ; and three grandchildren, Ariel Hylton, Jacob Dvoor and Jacqueline Dvoor.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 9, 2017, at 11:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Flemington Jewish Community Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday 9:30AM -11:00AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Flemington Jewish Community Center, 5 Sergeantsville Road, Flemington, NJ 08822 or to Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
