Merrill Lockwood, 89, of Sugar Land, Texas, died Friday, Aug. 13, in his home.
He was a retired self-employed building contractor.
Born Sept. 14, 1909, in Brooklyn, he was a son of the late Charles and Irene Lockwood. He lived in Flemington for 72 years before moving to St. Louis, Mo., in 1992 and to Sugar Land in 1997.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in northern France and the Rhineland.
His wife, the former M. Uytendale Lovell, died in 1978.
She is survived by a son, James M. of Sugar Land, with whom he resided and two grandsons.
Graveside services will be held at 4 this afternoon in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St., Flemington. There will be no calling hours.
The family requests memorials to Hospice at Texas Medical Center, 1905 Holcombe Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77030.
