Michael D. James

Michael D. James, age 35 years, died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at his home in West Amwell Township NJ. He had been a resident of West Amwell for the past six years. Born September 8, 1981, in Panama City FL, Michael was the son of Dennis James of Panama City FL, and Maura (Leavy) James of West Amwell Township NJ. He graduated high school in Florida and worked for many years as a Mortgage Loan Processor for Sallie Mae in Florida. Michael was the former owner of Details Unlimited, a car detailing company in Panama City. After moving to New Jersey, he was the Receiving Manager for Burlington Coat Factory in Flemington. Michael loved cars, especially attending car shows, and spending time outdoors 4-wheeling and lake fishing in Florida and Vermont. He was a video gamer and spent many hours working out at the gym, however, his love of cooking gave him the most enjoyment. He had his own very creative style, making his own spice combinations and unique recipes. He combined his love of cooking with the outdoors and was considered by many to be a “Grill Master.” Michael was predeceased by his grandparents, Maurice and Ilene Leavy and John and Aileen James, as well as his sister, Melissa James in 2005. In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his sister, April Whitaker of Panama City FL, his daughter, Kaytlyn James of Virginia, his aunts, Bonnie Vaccaro of Tamiment PA, and Patricia Katrick of Arlington VT, his uncles Christopher Leavy of Deland FL, and Darin Leavy of Wallingford VT, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at Lynn Haven Cemetery in Lynn Haven FL. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Michael’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka KS 66675.
