Miguel Mendez, age 86 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died July 17, 2018 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born October 29, 1931 in Havana, Cuba, he was the son of Angelica Mateo and Francisco Mendez.
Miguel spent his childhood in Cuba before moving to the United States at the age of 22. He was a graduate of Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT). He worked as a GSA Federal Quality Assurance Inspector until he retired. Then recently, Miguel also worked for the ARC of Hunterdon County.
He loved to fish on the bay, and when he was younger, also enjoyed golfing. His family was most important to him though, and he treasured the times spent with his children and grandchildren.
Miguel is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Sivida (Pulido) Mendez; his sons, Edwin and his wife Joyce of Whitehouse Station, NJ and Denis of Three Bridges, NJ; his grandchildren, Amanda, RJ, Karissa, Kassandra and Jeremiah; and his great grandson, Thomasito.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:30 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
