Mildred E. Milly Lambert, age 93 years, of West Amwell Township, NJ, left her earthly home on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at her residence.
Born in Larisons Corner, NJ, January 30, 1919, daughter of the late George and Harietta Brewer Bateman, she was a lifelong area resident.
A 1937 graduate of Flemington High School where she was a cheerleader, she was formerly employed by the Nevius-Voorhees Department Store, Trenton, NJ. She had also worked for her familys restaurant, the Bateman Lunch Room, Ringoes, NJ.
In 1943, she married James A. Lambert and moved to the Lambert Farm in West Amwell Township, NJ. He died in 2003 after sixty loving years of marriage.
Milly was formerly the Deputy Clerk and then Clerk of West Amwell Township. She also served as the Township Tax Collector for thirty years and was a member of the Tax Collectors Association of New Jersey. Additionally, she had served on the Hunterdon County Board of Taxation. She loved to continue her education, and received her Teachers Aide certificate and took classes from 1967-1991 in advanced tax collection. In 1989, she was honored by Rutgers University, division of continuing education, for her efforts on behalf of the Hunterdon County Board of Taxation.
An eighty year member of the Kirkpatrick Memorial Presbyterian Church, Ringoes, NJ, she was the Churchs first woman Elder and taught Sunday School for over twenty years. Her faith was present in all that she did and this lead her to live a life of helping others.
Her faithful community service also included participation in the 4-H Club; the Ladies Auxiliary of the West Amwell Township Fire Company; and her service to the Democratic Party in Hunterdon County lead her to be recognized by various New Jersey Governors and various other government officials.
Milly loved her family and friends above all else and lived each day to the fullest, celebrating the blessings she received.
Surviving are her two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan and Porter Little of Marco Island, FL and Janice Jarrett of Lanoka Harbor, NJ; two sisters, Ruth Melbourn and Grace Cronce, both of Ringoes, NJ; and six devoted grandchildren, Porter C. Little and wife Andrea of Lambertville, NJ, Thomas E. Conley of Saylorsburg, PA, Heidi Luke and husband James of Doylestown, PA; Susanne Field and husband Derek of Cherry Hill, NJ, J. Craig Little and wife Kimberly of Cuming, GA and P. Derek Jarrett of Wilmington, NC; and eleven loving great grandchildren, Cody Conley, Taegan, Greer, Gannon and Quinn Field; Kennedy, Alexander and Anderson Luke, Porter and Thomas Little and Parker Little.
Her son-in-law, Paul Kip Jarrett, died on December 17, 2012.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kirkpatrick Memorial Presbyterian Church, 37 John Ringo Road, Ringoes, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
