Mildred F. Oaks, age 97 years, of Quakertown, NJ, died on Wednesday, June 13, 2007, in the Valley View Care Center, Alexandria Township, NJ.
Born in Quakertown, NJ, December 16, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Ernest A. and Edna Brown Oaks. She was a lifelong resident of Quakertown, NJ.
She was a graduate of Trenton Normal School and Rutgers University. She retired from teaching in 1974 from the Ewing Township, NJ Elementary School System.
She was a 1927 graduate of Flemington High School, Flemington, NJ.
Ms. Oaks was the oldest member of the Quakertown United Methodist Church; a member of the church quilters; and a member of the New Jersey Retired Teachers Association.
A sister, Josephine O. Fisher died in 2005, and a brother, Richard Oaks, died in 1938. Surviving are a niece, Nancy Fisher Christie of Sergeantsville, NJ, a nephew, Charles Holcombe Fisher of Flemington, NJ, and several great nephews and great nieces.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 10 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 9-10 AM in the funeral home.
