Mildred Schepler Van Vreede, age 90 years, of Bethlehem, PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, June 17, 2011 in Moravian Village Health Center, Bethlehem, PA.
Born in Chicago, IL, April 22, 1921, she had formerly resided in Flemington, NJ for thirty-five years, then in Whitehouse Station, NJ for six years before moving to Pennsylvania ten years ago where she lived at Sacred Heart Assisted Living by the Creek in Northampton.
She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flemington, NJ and was an active member of the Flemington Womans Club. Additionally, Mrs. Van Vreede worked for many years as the Executive Director of the American Cancer Society of Hunterdon County.
Her husband, Norbert J. Van Vreede, died in 2004.
Surving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Elaine of Newtown, PA and Thomas and Joyce of Coplay, PA; her grandchildren, Thomas and his wife Andrea, Steve and his wife, Sheree, Brian and his wife, Allison, Andrew and his wife, Meridth, Katherine and her husband, Dan Gutierrez, Susan, Maria and Tammy Jo; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ under the dirction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Saturday from 12:30-2:00 p.m. in the Church.
