Mother Teresa of Mary Immaculate, O.C.D. (Helen Letitia van Winkle) was born in New Haven, CT, on Dec. 16, 1927.
She entered the Carmelite Monastery on Sept. 15, 1948 and faithfully served as Secretary of our Foundress, Mother Mary Magdalen, writing thousands of grateful letters to our benefactors. With motherly care she served the community as Novice Mistress and Superior for many years.
Surrounded by the loving presence of the community who accompanied her last days with constant prayer day and night, she peacefully passed to the Lord on March 19, the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Protector of our Order.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 23, 2015 in the chapel of the Carmelite Monastery, 26 Harmony School Road, Flemington, NJ 08822. Burial will follow in the Carmelite Monastery Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
