Nancy D. Brown

Nancy D. Brown, age 78 years, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at her home in Raritan Township NJ. Born April 20, 1939, in Brooklyn NY, Nancy was the daughter of the late Benett G. and Dorothy (Westervelt) Davenport. She lived her early years in Caldwell NJ, later moving to East Orange NJ, and then to Hunterdon County in 1969, where she had lived since. Nancy worked for Lever Brothers in New York as a Secretary, and then for Building Restoration Services in East Orange. She later worked as a Mental Health Advocate for the NJ Protection & Advocacy Agency, where she retired after more than 34 years. Nancy had been a long-time member of the League of Women Voters. An avid reader, she loved classical music, attending the opera, ballet and Broadway musicals. Nancy treasured her family and loved raising her two sons as well as spending time with her grandchildren. She and her husband, Carlton L. Brown, celebrated 52 years of marriage together. A memorial service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822. Burial will be private at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown PA. Visitation will be Saturday, February 24th from 1:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
