Nancy Griffin Schaul, of the Ringoes section of East Amwell Township, NJ, died on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at her residence, surrounded by her family, after a long illness.
Mrs. Schaul was born in High Bridge, NJ, grew up in Summit, NJ, and raised her family in New Vernon, NJ. She had lived in East Amwell Township for the past fifteen years.
She was a graduate of the MacDuffie School, Springfield, MA; Wheaton College, Norton, MA; and the NYU Graduate School of Education. After her children were grown, she was on the faculty of the Far Hills Country Day School, Bernardsville, NJ.
Mrs. Schaul was an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of New Vernon, a member of the Morristown Garden Club, member of the New Vernon Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, and a member of the Wheaton Club of Princeton. She was also involved in many other charitable and civic activities.
Mrs. Schaul was the daughter of the late Judge Bryant Griffin and his widow, Dorothy Griffin, of Bridgewater, NJ. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Robert Schaul; her daughters, Amanda Schaul of Naples, FL, and Phoebe Thriffiley of Bay St. Louis, MS; her two grandchildren, Austin and Jackson of Bay St. Louis; a brother, Bryant Griffin of Penfield, NY; and a sister, Jody Peterson, of Fairfield, CT.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at 11 AM in the First Presbyterian Church of New Vernon, Lee's Hill Road, New Vernon, NJ. Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
