Neil A. Macher, age 60 years, of Flemington, NJ, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Easton, PA, February 27, 1945, son of the late Joseph and Bernice Macher, he had formerly resided in Changewater, NJ and had resided in Flemington, NJ thirty years.
When he retired in 2004, he was Captain of the Corrections Department at the Hunterdon County Jail after thirty-three years of service.
A firearms instructor and expert marksman, he received numerous awards for his marksmanship from state, county and local organizations. Serving in the United States Coast Guard 1965-1970, Mr. Macher was an avid deep-sea fisherman and loved computers as well as spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Deborah Poch Macher; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and David Chiravalle of Phillipsburg, NJ; a step-son, Robert Bunting of Milford, NJ; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Tom Vinson of Phillipsburg, NJ; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Bonnie Macher of Bethlehem, PA; two grandchildren, Bryan and Kyle Chiravalle of Phillipsburg, NJ; and three step-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Highway 31, Washington, NJ. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery, Washington, NJ.
