Nora L. “Ginger” Lambert, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Independence Manor in Flemington, NJ, where she had resided for the past year.
Born on February 12, 1936, in Erie, PA, Ginger was the beloved daughter of the late Robert Todd Lloyd and Mary Jo (Bittinger) Lloyd. A graduate of Albright College, Ginger dedicated her career to caring for others as a Registered Nurse (RN) at Hunterdon Medical Center, a profession that perfectly reflected her deeply compassionate and selfless nature.
Ginger moved to the Flemington area in 1966, where she and her family built a home filled with love, laughter, and acceptance. A devoted member of Flemington Presbyterian Church, she served as an elder, deacon, Sunday School teacher, and volunteer with the church’s Stephen Ministry, offering guidance and solace to those in need. She also volunteered with Hunterdon Hospice beginning in 1994, bringing comfort and dignity to patients and their families during life’s most difficult moments.
Her selfless spirit reached beyond her professional and church life. Ginger taught Lamaze classes, worked at a methadone clinic, and counseled families facing perinatal loss. She was a proud advocate for PFLAG, promoting inclusion and understanding, and actively supported outreach programs for families displaced by war and those affected by the events of 9/11. In recognition of her remarkable contributions, Ginger was named Volunteer of the Year at Hunterdon Medical Center.
A natural nurturer, Ginger also embraced the role of a surrogate mother to international exchange students through the Rotary program, creating lifelong bonds with teenagers from the Netherlands, Chile, and Ecuador. Her warmth extended into the kitchen, where she was known for her baking, generously sharing her treats at gatherings. She also had a deep love for music, singing in the church choir, playing guitar, and performing with the church’s handbell choir.
Ginger’s life was enriched by her sense of humor, which brought joy and light to everyone she encountered. She was a steadfast friend, a compassionate listener, and a source of strength to anyone in need, embodying tolerance, inclusivity, and a belief in the goodness of people.
Above all, Ginger will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her unconditional love, quiet strength, and tireless commitment to helping others have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Ginger was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Glenn P. Lambert, a former pediatrician and Medical Director at Hunterdon Medical Center, who passed away in 2024.
She is survived by her loving family: three sons and their spouses—Todd Lambert of Malvern, PA; Stephen Lambert of Annandale, NJ; and David Lambert, M.D., of Philadelphia, PA; her daughter, Beth Dinowitz, and her spouse of Corte Madera, CA; her sister, Kathryn Lynne Bowen of Girard, PA; and her eight cherished grandchildren: Jack, Scott, Ryann, Hayden, Robby, Zachary, Leonardo and Wesley.
A life celebration will be held on Saturday, May 24th (at a time to be determined) at the Flemington Presbyterian Church, 10 East Main St., Flemington NJ 08822 to honor Ginger’s legacy of love, compassion, and service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hunterdon Hospice (https://www.hunterdonhealth.org/hunterdon-healthcare-foundation), PFLAG ( https://pflag.org/), or the Flemington Presbyterian Church (https://www.flemingtonpres.org/).
