Norbert J. Van Vreede, age 91 years, of Northampton, PA died Sunday, March 21, 2004 in Muhlenburg Medical Center, Allentown, PA.
Born in Hollandtown, Wisconsin, March 8, 1913, son of the late John and Marie Wymelenberg Van Vreede, he had formerly resided in Flemington, NJ for thirty-five years, then in Whitehouse Station, NJ for six years before moving to Northampton three years ago.
He was a manager for Olympia Business Machines, Somerville, NJ, retiring in 1981. A US Army veteran of World War II, he served twenty-three years in the Army and Army Reserve, retiring with the rank of Major. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flemington, NJ.
Surving are his wife, Mildred Schepler Van Vreede; two sons, Paul of Newtown, PA and Thomas of Coplay, PA; two brothers, Cyril of Menasha, Wisconsin and Cletes of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a sister, Mary Vandenboogard of Appleton, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 Highway 31, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ (please call or visit www.holcombefisher.com for further information).
