Norman Charles Arnold

June 17, 1936 — January 7, 2019

Norman Charles Arnold, age 82, died Monday, January 7, 2019 at his home in Sergeantsville NJ.

Born June 17, 1936, in Trenton NJ, Norm was the son of the late Joseph Randolph and Sarah Madeline (Servis) Arnold. He lived in Mercer County NJ much of his life before moving to Sergeantsville a number of years ago. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving his country in 1954.

Norm primarily worked in the food industry, as a Produce Manager for supermarkets including the former Davidson’s Market in Princeton NJ. Known as one the hardest working people you could meet, he was also a salesman and consultant in the food industry for many years. He loved to be around kids and help them where he could. For many years, he worked serving food at the Robert Hunter Elementary School in Raritan Township NJ, one of his favorite experiences.

After leaving the food industry, Norm worked as a limousine driver and was always quick to tell a story about the fascinating foibles of driving strangers to their destination and back. Norm will always be remembered by those who knew him as someone who could strike up a conversation with anyone at anytime. He had a special way of making people feel comfortable despite only having met for the first time.

Norm was a big fan of country music. He and his fiancé, Beverly Emery, could be found in Nashville TN or attending a country music concert. The two also loved to travel. Trips to the Caribbean Islands, as well as throughout the United States were among their favorite destinations including Aruba, the California coastline, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach SC and Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Norm also enjoyed spending time at the Jersey Shore over many years with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Norm was predeceased by his son, Mark Arnold. He is survived by his fiancé, Beverly Emery, his grandson and his wife, Ryan and Brittni Arnold, his great grandson Brantley Arnold, and his daughter in law, Karen Arnold (nee Goetter), as well as his brother, Raymond Arnold, and his sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Joseph, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ. Interment with military honors will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown PA. Friends may call from 11:30 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
