Norman H. Hand, age 79 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Friday, November 28, 2008, at his residence.
Born in Holland Township, NJ, April 28, 1929, son of the late Norman F. and Bertha Alice Kinney Hand, he had resided in Hunterdon County all his life.
A United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Hand was Chief Lineman for over forty years with JCP & L, Flemington, NJ. After that, he went on to work for the Flemington Car & Truck Country Family of Dealerships as a Dealer Transporter.
As a child, Mr. Hand was involved with the Flemington Choir School and currently was a member of American Legion Post #159, Flemington, NJ. Additionally, he was a former Coach with the local Pop Warner Football League, the Flemington Falcons and was very involved with the Hunterdon Central Red Devils Booster Club.
Mr. Hand was formerly a member of the Flemington Borough Planning Board, and was instrumental in getting the Flemington Community Pool opened and running. He also donated many gallons of blood during his life to local Blood Banks.
His wife of fifty-five years, Anne Marie Tolischus Hand, died in 2006. He was also pre-deceased by a sister, Elaine Hand.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert C. and Cheri Hand, of Raritan Township, NJ, Norman G. and Kristen Hand, of Mt. Arlington, NJ, and Kyle W. and Robyn Hand, of Raritan Township, NJ; two daughters, Kathleen E. Hand, of East Amwell Township, NJ, and Maureen E. Hand, of Clinton Township, NJ; ten grandchildren; Crystal Hand, Renee Bagley, Garret Chanin, Rachel LaFerla, Justin LaFerla, Sean Hand, Stephanie Hand, Allison Hand, Katherine Hand and Danielle Wolfson; a brother and sister-in-law, Clarence (Abe) and Barbara Hand of Boise, ID; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Les Rupell of Buckingham, PA; and his true and faithful companion, his dog, Buddy.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Entombment will follow in St. Magdalen Mausoleum, Flemington, NJ.
