Oda Hoenicke

Oda Hoenicke, age 88 years, died on Sunday, May 10, 2009, in the Country Arch Care Center, Union Township, Hunterdon County, NJ.

Born September 13, 1920 in Elsteverde, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Arno and Mina Rithter Hoenicke.

After the end of World War ll Oda, along with thousands of other Germans, walked out of the Eastern Zone, away from the Russians, and into the West and freedom in America. Oda arrived in the U.S. in 1953 and lived the rest of her happy and buisy life in New York City and Hunderton County, New Jersey.

Oda is survived by nieces and nephews, Samir and Susan Shafei, of Orlando, Florida, Todd and Leila Campisi and their children Eloise and Roman, of Atlanta,Georgia, and David Shafei of Los Angeles, California.

Graveside services will be held at the Union Cemetery, Wertsville, NJ. Oda will be laid to rest beside her beloved, Owens at 10:30 AM, on Thursday, May 14th.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. There will be no calling hours.
