Patricia Ann Parente, age 90, died on Monday, April 11, 2016, in Flemington, NJ. She was surrounded by her loving family. Born in Colombus, OH, to Marie Antoinette Clementine and John Finneran, she had five beloved siblings who preceded her in death: Jack, Marie, Tom, Don and Raymond. Patricia moved to New York City in 1944 to live with an aunt while earning money for college. She graduated from Fordham University in 1951, with a degree in elementary education, and married Dominick Parente, a fellow Fordham graduate, that same year. Together they raised four daughters; Patricia Wilder, of Burke, VA; Margaret DiAlto, of New Hope, PA; Anne Parente, of Northampton, MA; and Nancy Tonnessen, of Flemington, NJ. She has six grandchildren; Elizabeth and Michael DiAlto, Daniel and Stephen Wilder and Laura and Julia Tonnessen, and three sons-in-law; Patsy DiAlto, Glen Tonnessen and David Wilder.
Patricia worked as an executive secretary at Greif Brothers, an industrial container company on Staten Island, for almost 30 years and was a member of Holy Family Parish. Throughout her life she was a devoted and active volunteer in various Catholic ministries.
In 1997, Patricia and her husband Dominick, who died in 2008, relocated to New Hope, PA to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Together they explored and enjoyed the countryside and history of Bucks County. One of their favorite places to visit became the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa. They loved the serenity and music played at the shrine and chose a spot near its music amphitheater as their final resting place.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 9:45 AM, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ. Interment will be in Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown, PA.
