Patricia Anne VanDerveer, 88, of West Melbourne, FL, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025 in Martinsburg, WV. Born in Flemington, NJ, on August 11, 1936, she was the daughter of the late William S. and Hazel (Hildebrant) Swartley.

Patricia was a registered nurse at Somerset Medical Center and Hunterdon Medical Center, before becoming nurse-educator at Franklin Township School, Quakertown, from where she retired after more than thirty years. She attended Flemington High School, and was a graduate of The Somerset Hospital School of Nursing and Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey).

Following retirement, Patricia and her late husband, Peter VanDerveer, moved to West Melbourne, FL. They expanded upon their earlier travel backpacking on the Appalachian Trail, touring Europe, and visitng Russia soon after the fall of the Soviet Union, by exploring the US and Canada in their RV, enjoying many pleasureable summers in Montana.

Patricia was pre-deceased by her husband, Peter. Surviving are daughters, Kim VanDerveer and husband Steve, Kelly VanDerveer, Lori VanDerveer-Hand and husband Patrick, and grandchildren Zoe and Noah. She also is survived by her sisters: Beverly Groves-Harrity and husband Ed, and Sandra VanFleet and husband Wayne. In addition to her husband, Patricia was predeceased by her brothers William and Ronald Swartley.

Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are under Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
